The Good Things That Come with Prawns

Prawns are one of the best things that could happen on the table. Even when the word prawns is said out loud, craving becomes inevitable. The question now is, what’s holding you back?

Usually, the price holds people back when prawns are concerned. And of course, there are the health “threats” of prawns, which are, by the way, overrated. Like everything else, if consumed constantly, risks can be expected. But if consumed in moderation, health benefits are undeniably good.

Fatty Acids

Like fish, prawns are also a good source of Omega 3 fatty acids, which we know is good for the heart. Fatty acids help out lessen blood pressure, making the heart work less, and in turn, lessen the risks of heart related diseases. It also avoids other diseases like Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

Selenium

Prawns are a good source of selenium. This helps inhibit the growth of cancer cells in the body, which helps reduce the risks of any type of cancer.

Calcium

Prawns are also a good source of calcium. This gives us strong bones and teeth.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is useful to give us a better memory. Not only that, it also ensures that the arteries and the veins function properly, resulting to a very healthy cardiac health.

Prawns are rich in Vitamin E. It does not only give the skin a good, noticeable glow, but it also helps in preventing various skin diseases as well.

For those who are going to the gym to tone up or build their bodies, this is like eating meat. Prawns are high in protein. Our body needs protein because for repairs of damages that has been done to the body. Protein makes it possible for your skin to heal faster when it’s cut.

Our body also needs sodium, but too much of it can be harmful. This is needed to make your muscles and nerve impulses to function properly.

Warning:

Prawns are said to be high in bad cholesterol. While prawns have all the health benefits, it can also be a danger to your health if consumed beyond the recommended level. Just don’t eat it every day, or even every other day, especially if you already have heart conditions. You can still enjoy prawns, but with supervision from your doctor. Ask your doctor how often and how much prawn can you consume. Balance and moderation is always the key.
