How to Prepare Fish and Chip and How to Eat it the Right Way

Hungry? There are a lot of ways to address that, especially when you’re just in a hurry. Two words: fast food.

One of the most coveted fast foods is what we call fish and chips. I know. Your mouth probably watered a little bit – and more for those who are hungry. There may be a lot of fish and chips store, and they may be served (and cooked) in a variety of ways. However, do you know how to genuinely enjoy this sumptuous food-in-a-jiffy?
You can choose to make one. To get you started, here’s a short version of the recipe.

How to whip a set of fish and chips in a jiffy:

Cod fillets
Floury potatoes

For the batter:
All purpose flour
Milk
Baking powder
Black pepper
Vegetable oil for frying
Egg

Instructions:

Preheat vegetable oil
Make batter. Add flour and salt. Mix well.
Add milk and baking powder. Whisk until mixture is smooth and creamy,
Blend eggs.
Add beer. Whisk until mixture is lump-free.
Refrigerate for 15 minutes.

Peel and cut potatoes to strips.
Fry for a couple of minutes.
Once pale enough, remove and dry them.
Increase temperature, and fry them again until they turn golden brown.

Dip fish in batter. Fry it in oil.
Cook fish for 2 to 3 minutes until fish turns golden brown and crspy.

Drain fish and potatoes.

Easy, right? By the way, if you’re asking if you’re going to cook it with the skin on, the answer is NO. Cook it without the skin. That makes it easier for the batter to stick.

Now that you have your set of fish and chips, do you know how to enjoy it best?

To make it table-worthy, you can garnish it with some lemons or lime wedges. To get a feel like you’re just eating in your favourite restaurant, serve it well. Do not just eat it like it’s just chips. Set your table right, and get creative!

Tomato sauce or gravy? Consider gravy. Get rid of tomato sauce. Some people prefer Tartare sauce and a bit of lemon. Some also prefer seeded mustard. If you want it healthier, you can simply enjoy it with vinegar.

One cannot enjoy meals without drinks that complement them. For fish and chips, a lot of people prefer wine. But because this food needs carbonated drinks to get rid of the “greasiness”, a lot of people prefer sodas and light beer. If you’re a little conscious with what you drink, tea is also a very considerable drink to complement the food.

These are just very basic things for your fish and chips. You just need to be creative with your meals. Just because you think this is fast food does not necessarily mean that you can just eat it plain.

Even when you order one from the store you can still improve it a little bit. Garnish it. Add a little something to it. Look for a drink that best complements it. You can even eat it with dessert.

Don’t worry. Fish-and-chips also has health values. It is fish, after all, and fish provides us with protein. You can choose to cook it yourself or order it from your favourite fish and chips restaurant. It’s up to you how you enjoy it, and I just gave you a few pointers how.
